All vegetables and fruit give off ethylene gas as they deteriorate over time. Warm temperature and exposure to light speeds the deterioration. Hence the banana left on the kitchen counter ripens faster than when kept in a cool part of the home.
Super Fresh Bags are specially designed, multi-layered and laminated food bags manufactured using food grade storage materials. These films or layers provide barriers to light and oxygen, both of which are necessary to hasten ripening of fruit and ageing of vegetables. Super Fresh Bags provide this essential protection and keep fruit and vegetables fresh and lasting longer.
This is why Super Fresh Bags do not have a clear window to identify the contents. However, the contents can be identified easily by writing on the white bag.
How to use Super Fresh Bags?Super Fresh Bags have dual purpose. They keep vegetables and fruit fresh between 2 to 4 weeks in the refrigerator. The bags also keep fresh dry, processed foods such as potato chips, crackers, biscuits, nuts, lollies and pet treats, in the pantry or refrigerator. The bags come with seals BUT DO NOT SEAL for fresh vegetables and fruit. However, when storing dry and processed foods, expel as much air as possible and SEAL the bags. The seals should be opened carefully as they are NOT designed for constant use.
Are Super Fresh Bags proven?Freshness is one of the main attributes consumers look for when choosing fruits and vegetables. In spite of its importance, the understanding and perception of freshness by the consumer vary widely as it is determined by sensory and physio-chemical characteristics related to freshness. Hence, taste, aroma, crispness, juiciness, colour, textural properties, and physiological aging are descriptors used to assess freshness. Sensory perceptions are very personal as well as gender-based. In other words, it is very subjective.
Simply put, there is no laboratory-based methodology to scientifically test freshness in vegetables and fruits using the above descriptors. So, Super Fresh Bags were tested in the best laboratory in the world – in the kitchen at home! For over four years, Super Fresh Bags were tested on a wide variety of fresh vegetables and fruits with consistent and excellent results demonstrating freshness as described by taste, crispness, juiciness, aroma, colour, textual properties, and physiological aging (deterioration).
